Upstream AS is pleased to announce that Ål kommune on May 3rd decided to invest in Upstream AS
For Upstream AS this is a confirmation that our plans for building a Land Based RAS facility has a wide support in our local community. The mayor Solveig Vestenfor today signed the documents that formally include Ål kommune as one of the owners of the company. This is the first time ever the local kommune enter the ownership of a private company.

“This is a day for the history books for Ål kommune, and will give significant repurcussions in the business life in Hallingdal, and for local food production and supply for years to come..
In Ål kommunes Facebook post, they also inform that they will invite to a public meeting, arranged in the fall of 2024 to get all information of the project and also get the opportunity to ask questions of all kind.
Broad political support
All political fractions supported the decision and the leader Senterpartiet Ål, Ola Terje Oleivsgard say to the local newspaper "Hallingdølen" that the politicians has got good information about the company and the plans. "Signing up for an ownership share is a opportunity for Ål kommune which potentially can pay off in the long run".
Anne Kari Kind (Ap) is also positiv to the project. She also expect that will be a analyses of the total impact of the establishment before the start-up.

Ål kommune will through this investments also achieve significant increase in the tax incomes, and the social accounting adds up to hundred of millions from new competency, families moving in to the kommune, and new businesses will be established when the facility is up and running. The kommune will also now be a part of the sustainable handling of organic materials that most likely will come even if the RAS facility will meet obstacles on the way ahead..
