Together with our consultants in Morefish; Upstream were visiting Nofitech AS in Trondheim.
Our dream of making a zero emission RAS facility was strengtened after the meetings in Trondheim.
We met Nofitech #nofitech first time in the Seafood Expo in Barcelona in April and was invited to a presentation of the Company.. On Tuesday June 18 we were able to do the visit and this was very interesting

Standardized systems
One of NOFITECH`s USPs is that they stick to standarized systems that they have installed on several land based fish farms in Norway and abroad. They know that this is well proven RAS systems, and the standardization will potentially mean lower costs and enable us to establish the modules faster than it will be when tailored for us.
We also got an introduction of their MIME-system that give full control with the production and to predict risks in a very early stage and also how to avoid incidents that cpuld affect the production negatively.
Project Wasteless
Nofitech has also been working closely with NTNU and SINTEF in a project Wasteless #wasteless to look into the emissions from RAS, and to utilize the sludge and water into aquaponics systems growing vegetables and/or algeas. This might be a very interesting project for Upstream AS, and we could potentially continue our dreams about a zero-emission facility.
INAQ
We also had a short meeting with Erik Skontorp Hognes in Inaq AS. The main discussion here was to discuss how Upstream AS already in an early stage can provide figures that shows the high focus and output within sustainability and green development. INAQ #inaq wants to contribute to the sustainable development within the blue sector, and to help small and medium-sized companies in particular to make green changes in their own operations.
